M1 Eastern Distributor — Crash & Operable Barrier

Design and reconstruction of the vehicle crash barrier and an operable barrier at the northbound portal.
Structural design and reconstruction of the vehicle crash barrier at the northbound portal of the M1 Eastern Distributor, together with a new operable barrier outside the tunnel. Both had to meet the relevant road-safety barrier standards while fitting the constraints of a busy portal.
We designed the barrier system, its foundations and anchorage, and reviewed buildability for works staged alongside live traffic. The documentation was prepared to support construction certification, so the finished barriers could be built, verified and signed off with confidence.
